Systems Engineer



My client, a UK leader in digital and data driven marketing, is looking to recruit a Systems Engineer to join their expanding team in their bright and modern offices in East Grinstead.

Systems Engineer - RESPONSIBILITIES

A Systems Engineer is a member of the technical resource pool working on various

projects providing implementations of marketing tools and databases. As my client partners with Alterian and use their marketing suite on behalf of clients, this role will involve working with this tool. Any previous experience with Alterian would thus be beneficial. The successful candidate will be working within small teams alongside very experienced systems professionals in a supportive friendly environment.



Particular areas of responsibility are:

• The development and maintenance of CRM database solutions.

• General support programming involving investigation of code and data issues and making fixes and new changes to various systems and tools (although this is not a development role).

• Attending Client meetings to discuss and demonstrate solutions at both a technical and business level

• Providing training to internal & external personnel

• Any other reasonable duties that may be assigned from time to time



SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Professional

• Ability to work under pressure until a task is complete whilst maintaining a high quality service

• Ability to work in a methodical and structured manner with minimal supervision, using initiative

• Responsive, helpful and flexible attitude at all times.

• Willing to work on customers site at times and attend client meetings (role is primarily based at our office)

• Enjoy problem solving

Technical

Essential

• ETL tool - Informatica v7.x or 8.x preferable

• SQL Server 2005 and/or 2008

• SQL

• Microsoft Reporting Services tool

• VB6 / VB script

• Data manipulation, exploration, analysis, and data integrity (experience of manipulating data of varied sources and targets like RDBMS, XML and Flat Files)

• Strong Database/Data Warehouse analysis & design skills

• Strong Business Requirements analysis/definition

• Good documentation skills (functional, technical, system design specifications)

• Knowledge of software development process

• Visual Studio/SourceSafe in Windows environment

• Microsoft Office Suite for Windows

Commercial experience gained during the technical delivery of several projects

utilising the skills above would be a distinct advantage as would experience in

implementing either Alterian solutions or databases and marketing tools in medium

to large enterprises.
